Juan This bass will sustain me...

This is the Warwick Corvette "Double Buck ($$)". It is the bass that I desire over all other basses...for now. This conflict goes on in my mind constantly. If it's not this bass, then it’s a black 4 string American Fender Jazz with a maple neck/fretboard with block inlays,… Continue

Sam When I Grow Up, I Wanna Be Arlo West

Scary good tone, tasty chops. The total package. And I didn't know a Tele could sound like that. According to his comments, he's using Keystone pickups.

And if you dug that, head over to his website and download his all his songs for free. No joke.

Juan My story is your story.

Ok. I’ve received a request to relive something that happened to me several years ago. In retrospect, it’s actually pretty damn funny…to me. Even though it happened to me. What is it? Well, it started out as a simple misunderstanding where I for screwed. Of course I mean metaphorically, not literally. This isn’t that type of blog…yet. Don’t worry, I’ll turn to the back of the book for you and tell you it actually ended ok. I used to live in Brevard County, Cocoa to be exact. I was in a band ove… Continue

Sam No One Can Stop Us Now...

Ian Crichton, I dub thee the "Unknown Shredder". Ian plays guitar for the band Saga (and is the original guy, unlike the quitter singer, quitter keyboard players, and quitter drummers). I remember exactly one song by them: "On The Loose". I heard it yes… Continue

Juan Bass is a fish, right?

I belong to Talkbass.com. It is many things, but to me it serves two main purposes: 1) It gives me insight on all things bass guitar related. 2) It provides (another) place in which to spend money. I've purchased some things lately over there. Luckily, all of it has been good. Alas, this is not a talkbass plug. But in case anyone who plays bass hasn't found this site yet, go check it out. One of my favorite avitars is one of a bass playing a bass. Get it? I like it. A what? I have a friend who… Continue

Sam RoboHype or RoboCool?

Late last year, Gibson unveiled the much-hyped Robot Guitar (official Gibson page). The Robot Guitar not only tunes itself (to several different tunings no less), it also practically strings itself AND corrects intonation problems. I remember thinking thi… Continue

Sam Fun with the G major scale

My favorite scale to noodle around in is G major. It tastes as good in G as it does in E minor(G's natural minor). Plus it's right in the middle of the fretboard. When played in the Ionian-ish mode pictured below, I like its symmetric-ness. ((I suppose with those last three notes, it's not technically Ionian since I'm not stopping on G, but who cares?)) The fret intervals are (Low E) 2-2, (A) 2-2, (D) 1-2, (G) 1-2, (B) 2-1, (E) 2-1. ()Nice and clean

Sam Little Guitars...Sing To Me

I got this little Ibanez Mikro for my birthday. I had been looking for a junior sized guitar for my kids to play with. Half so they'd have fun, half so they'd stop abusing my Strat. I played it in Guitar Center and decided to ask for it for my birthday.

It's actually quite fun to play. It tunes to standard

Sam Check It Out

According to that Tool magazine Fast Company, Ning is taking over the world. So I had to check it out. Not sure yet exactly what Ning does that Facebook and MySpace (or any of the other thousands of social networks) don't do. Except Ning has Marc Andreessen (Netscape creator, gazillionaire) at the helm. I see many Google ads running down the right side that are non-movable and non-removable. Oh well, I'll give it a spin.
